Exploring Morocco’s Atlas Mountains without a guide may mean missing out on Berber culture and scenic viewpoints. Yet, many group tours follow rigid itineraries that don’t allow for spontaneity during the day. This private tour delivers on all counts—with a local guide to arrange logistics and enable interaction with Berber villagers, and the flexibility to personalize your itinerary. Optional camel ride and Berber home visit are all included.
- Private Atlas Mountains and Three Valleys day trip from Marrakech
- Flexible itinerary with options to hike, drive, or mule-ride on route
- Includes a camel ride
- Pickup and drop-off at your Marrakesh accommodation for convenience

Great day out with excellent guides
Really nice getting some fresh mountain air! Najib was a very safe driver and Houssen Mali very knowledgeable about the Berber history and lifestyle.
I would recommend if you have 4-5 days in Marrakech and feel like getting out the buzzing city for a break.

Excellent Tour
I can’t say enough good things about this tour and our guides. Our day did not start off great, and it was not the fault of this company (Art de Cuivre Travel). A van arrived at our hotel at 08:30, as agreed. The driver checked our tickets (which clearly say Atlas Mountain Tour), and we proceeded into Marrakesh to pick up other passengers. After picking up all passengers, the guide told us our itinerary for the day—which was only Marrakesh. I told him that we had booked the tour for Atlas Mountains, and grew visibly irritated and said I had booked for a Marrakesh Day Tour. I showed him my ticket again, and he started making phone calls. Turns out he was supposed to pick up a different family at our hotel, and this was not even the right tour company. It seemed straightforward on our end: van showed up on time, we showed our Atlas Mountain Tour tickets, and thought we were just picking up other passengers. So, we were brought back to our hotel, and the driver from Art de Cuivre Travel, Mohamed, met us at our hotel. We had held him up by an hour, but he was really nice about it. It was night and day compared to the other company. Mohamed spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable during the drive. We did the camel ride, stopped at an Argan oil cooperative, and were dropped off at the base of the Atlas Mountains, where we met our guide, Mohamed L. Mohamed L. also spoke excellent English and was very helpful with our children, carrying our five-year old over muddy parts, and being very patient in general. The trek was the perfect amount of exercise for any reasonably fit person. Beautiful weather in January. Mohamed provided history of the various sites as we passed them, which were spectacular. Pictures do not do this place justice. The trek culminated in a delicious chicken tagine lunch in one of the villages, which was very reasonably priced at about 6 Euros per person (and the kids ate free). I highly recommend this trip and company.

10/10 would recommend
Our trip to Atlas Mountains was a great way to experience rural Marrakesh and learn about the history of the Berbers. Our guide Driss, lead us on a two hour treck through his local towns, explaining different aspects of the locals lives. Driss and the driver Moustafa, were always on hand if we needed anything, making us feel very comfortable. Overall amazing experience. 10/10 would recommend.

Great day trip! Lhosayn Mali
We had an amazing day! The driver picked us up from the market and took us for the camel ride… The sun was rising so the scenery was beautiful, although the camels aren’t treated very well… then we stopped for a photo of a Berber village. Next stop was in the Argan oil cooperative, where we had a small but very good breakfast, understood a little of the process of the oils and got to shop some. Then we met our guide Lhosayn Mali, which was very friendly and helpful the whole time, caring for our health and well being, offered to carry my bags and was happy to take photos of us at all times. We headed to his house for tea and met his family after it, amazing. Complete experience! Thank you so much Lhosayn Mali! Very fun and attentive.
I recommend this trip! Just definitely isn’t for people out of shape, the hike is quite intense under the sharp sun… and not for kids either.

Great day in the Atlas Mountains
Spent a fabulous day with Mohammed as our driver and Driss as our guide in the mountains. Both were really helpful and knowledgable. We were picked up on time at our hotel, then taken for a camel ride before an impromptu stop at a local market. We then stopped at a cooperative for a talk on argon oil. At no time was anyone pushy or trying to make us buy anything.
We then went for our hike in the mountains and Driss arranged a mule for my mum. He was really helpful and told us lots of information about the area and the people who live there and the history. Afterwards we went for a meal in a Berber village, which was delicious. All in all a great day and I would highly recommend it.

Desert Agafay and Atlas Mountains & Camel ride Day Trip From Marrakech
Myself and two friends just got back from the Desert Agafay and Atlas Mountains & Camel ride Day Trip From Marrakech. Rachid M’zik our tour guide and Youssef our driver provided a world class excellence experience. They were both knowledge, fun, outgoing, informative, and made our first time in Morocco well worth the trip.

Myself and my wife are from Ireland and we visited Marrakech in early February 2020. I arranged this group excursion through Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The price was very reasonable for the excursion. We were collected close to the riad we were staying at 9am. We were met by our driver Mustafa and we picked up the other group members enroute. There was six of us in total. Mustafa was chatty and friendly. Our first stop was the camel ride which was enjoyable.Mustafa drove us up into the mountains stopping along the way so we could get out and enjoy the views of original Berber villages. This stop had a guide waiting to give us some information about the villages. We then went higher into the mountains stopping for a traditional breakfast of tea bread and oils which was delicious. We had a brief guide on how Argon oil products are made. All products were for sale but there was no pressure to buy. Mustafa drove us higher into the mountains were we met our mountain guide Driss Lauhguer. Driss led the trek through the Berber villages and to the waterfalls were we sat for a rest and pictures. Driss was an excellent guide stopping along the way for a rest and to talk about the Berber way of life. After we reached the waterfalls we went higher again to another village stopping for a rest some tea and an opportunity to buy some local products but again there is no pressure. We met plenty of other trekkers along the way. We then had a straight walk back down to a Berber house and had a gorgeous lunch of lentil soup and chicken tagine which was fantastic. This was relaxed and no rush to leave. This costs an extra 7 euro per person if you dont choose it at time of booking…..it is well worth 7 euro! The food is excellent and the portions are huge.
The upward part of the trek is roughly 1hr 30mins. This can be challenging at times but Driss was more than happy to stop for a rest and a chat about the mountains and villages. He walked at everyone’s pace and it made the trek very enjoyable. The trek down was much easier on a straight path taking about 45mins.As Driss is from one of the villages he was extremely interesting to chat to about the Berber way of life. After our food Mustafa was waiting for us to take us back to Marrakech. I recommend wearing running shoes for the trek. This was a fantastic excursion made all the more enjoyable by the excellent driver and guide Mustafa and Driss. Excellent!

Dusty, tired and DELIGHTED
Absolutely fantastic, as all other reviews have stated. Fantastic driver Kamil, who was so passionate about his Berber culture, lots of stops for tea and photo breaks, an interesting demonstration from the Argan oil coop with no pressure to buy (though we did, as was an excellent cause) and then we met Hamid our guide up the mountains, who was so kind, funny, patient when we were slow!, and took great photos 🙂 many thanks for taking us to your home to meet your family!
It’s a fair amount of climbing!, be warned you need trainers or sturdy shoes, but the views are magnificent.
